Oak Park River Forest High School: Louder Than a Bomb

LTABLouder Than a Bomb is the Chicagoland area youth poetry slam. It’s put on by a wonderful organization called Young Chicago Authors (www.youngchicagoauthors.org). You may have heard about them recently because of Mayor Rahm Emmanuel’s generous donation to the non-profit. Louder Than a Bomb is the largest team poetry slam in the world. This year 74 teams competed for 4 slots to the finals taking place on Saturday March 12 at the Vic Theater in Chicago.

The following videos are four of the six members of the team I coached alongside Peter Kahn, Milton McKinney, Jay Lind and David Gilmer. The two members I wish I had footage of are the very talented Cailynn C’mone and Sherry Reuter. The entire team is so talented, humble, and kind. They all deserve their shout-outs. In case you reeeally need to know, they won their semi-final bout and are in the top four teams competing on finals stage this Saturday! Congrats to Raven Hogue for also qualifying for the individual finals!

Did anyone else help you coach this fantastic team? I was at finals and I seem to remember a very handsome, young, hilarious teacher pumping them up before their performance.
